Cross-Layer Network Design through the Application Layer and Beyond
Abstract: Cross-layer design is a well-known approach to improve the performance of wireless networks. These techniques are developed to optimize interactions across different layers of the network stack, from the physical layer through the application layer. However, they typically neglect the economic, business, and user experience elements that drive network demand. In this talk, I will describe ongoing work on the design of wireless networks and protocols that serve the interests of those that use them, carry their traffic, and offer other services over them.
