The collaboration between Prof. Orit Shefi and artist Vardi Bobrov will feature as part of Transmeet Festival of art and science

This October, the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History in Tel Aviv is set to host the Transmeet Festival of art and science. Spanning three days, the festival will feature works of art, lectures, shows and workshops, all of which the fruits of artist-scientist collaborations.

One of the works to be presented in the festival is a boundary-pushing project, a collaboration of artist Vardi Bobrov and Prof. Orit Shefi of the Faculty. The work is based on the recovery processes of faulty neurons, through development and growth. As part of her research, Prof. Shefi has been trying to rehabilitate and cure neural trees, by influencing the modes and directions of their growth through nanometric structures. Vardi Bobrov’s art explores everyday or industrial materials, like office rubber bands. The two women’s collaboration looks into the qualities of stretching, growth and development found in networks and connections; in mind and matter. In addition, the festival program features different events that explore the intersection of science and art, including four music and dance premieres, three of which created in Bar Ilan’s Fetter Museum of Art and Nanoscience at The Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, especially for the festival, with three sessions of lectures by top scientist and educators in the fields of neuroscience, chaos and uncertainty and multidisciplinary education as a bridge between worlds. The festival will take place during 12-14 October.
