The Faculty of Engineering
The Faculty of Engineering at Bar-Ilan University was established in October 2011 and has been ranked number one among the engineering faculties in Israel for the past three years. The faculty trains engineers and scientists with the latest knowledge of algorithms, signal processing, and computer communication hardware - systems that depend on thousands of calculation units. We provide a broad systemic view and enable its graduates to face humanity's everyday challenges. Graduates of the Faculty of Engineering at Bar-Ilan University successfully join the advanced technological industries in various fields and academia. Thanks to close ties with numerous players in the high-tech sector, we can understand market needs, particularly employee needs. Our curriculum is designed to meet these changing requirements, ensuring our students are well-prepared for their next steps in the industry.
The faculty has six study programs. Four new programs recently joined our two original programs: electrical engineering and computer engineering, industrial engineering and information systems, data science engineering, software engineering, and materials engineering.
The Electrical Engineering program provides a comprehensive education that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation necessary to excel in the diverse and rapidly evolving field of electrical engineering. Our mission is to foster a learning environment combining theoretical understanding with practical application, preparing graduates to contribute significantly to technological innovation, industry, and society.
Electrical engineers design the most sophisticated systems around us. It is a field that touches all aspects of modern society. We emphasize innovative areas such as building light-operated processors, low-power nanoelectronics components, innovative signal processing algorithms, the quantum field, and neuro-engineering the meeting point of sensing capabilities, engineering components, neuronal systems, and brain activity.
The Computer Engineering program is committed to providing a comprehensive education that equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the dynamic and rapidly evolving field of computer engineering. We aim to foster a learning environment emphasizing innovation, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility. We train students in hot topics such as cyber hardware and software, chip design, computer networks, and computation through rigorous theoretical education, practical experience, and collaborative research opportunities. We want our graduates to be well-prepared to face the challenges of the modern world and contribute to the advancement of technology.
The Industrial and Information Systems Engineering program focuses on optimizing processes, systems, and operations across various industries. It takes a comprehensive approach to enhancing efficiency, productivity, and innovation, integrating key areas such as performance research, production and operations management, process optimization, and information systems management. Engineers in this field play a pivotal role in linking people, processes, technologies, and data. They manage complex, large-scale projects, improve and refine operational processes, and deliver valuable insights through data analytics and business intelligence.
The Data Science Engineering program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical awareness required to excel in the dynamic and rapidly evolving data analysis and engineering field. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive education that combines data science principles and engineering methodologies to address real-world challenges, drive innovation, and contribute to society. We mainly focus on information processing and analysis (machine learning and artificial intelligence), computer vision and graphics, optimization and algorithmic information security, and industrial applications.
The Software Engineering program provides a comprehensive education that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation necessary to excel in the dynamic and evolving field of software engineering. Our mission is to foster a learning environment that combines groundbreaking technical education with innovation, teamwork, and ethical responsibility to prepare graduates to contribute to society by developing software solutions that respond to social challenges and industry needs. We emphasize the security of online information and software systems while understanding the entirety of existing computer systems (distributed computing and more).
The Materials Engineering program provides a comprehensive education that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation necessary to excel in the diverse and innovative field of materials engineering. Our mission is to foster a learning environment that combines scientific principles with engineering practices, enabling graduates to contribute significantly to the development, optimization, and sustainable application of materials for various industries and technological advancement. Our emphasis is on the developing field of sustainability and environmental materials, which includes learning about technologies and materials for energy production and conversion and computational materials science.
Studies at the faculty take place in a new and luxurious complex equipped with modern facilities and the most advanced technologies. Students have at their disposal state-of-the-art laboratories, including the Super Resolution and Imaging Laboratory, the Robotics Laboratory, the VLSI Design Lab, and the Speech Processing Laboratory—the only one of its kind in the world. The electronic library at the faculty is fitted with the best books, publications, and prestigious journals in the world.
In addition to the challenging studies, the students enjoy campus life, rich social activities, and personal attention from the faculty.
