Master’s student Hadar Eger Wins ISFN Outstanding Poster
Hadar’s poster won second place out of 300 participating posters at the Israel Society for Neuroscience conference. Hadar is developing innovative technology for detecting changes in brain function in early-stages Alzheimer’s patients.
Congratulations, Hadar Eger, for winning Outstanding Poster at the annual ISFN conference. Hadar is a master’s student at Dr. Shahar Alon’s lab where she is spearheading an innovative research project about Alzheimer’s disease. “My research, done in collaboration with Yaara Karsik Diamant, focuses on changes in the brain that occur at the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. The early stages are crucial for understanding and treating the disease,” she says. “We’re developing technology that would enable us to measure dozens, if not hundreds, of genes simultaneously at unprecedented resolution. This means that we would be able to identify changes in gene location at the early stages of the disease.”
Hadar presented her research at the ISFN conference, attended by more than 800 researchers from institutions across Israel. Approximately 300 posters were presented, but Hadar’s gained special attention, primarily thanks to the potential her research holds. “If successful, our research could improve not only our understanding of what causes the disease, but also our ability to detect it earlier and provide treatment,” she shares, and wishes to thank her peers at the lab and her supervisor, Dr. Shahar Alon, for his support and dedicated mentorship.
