The Faculty of Engineering’s winners of the ISF grants
Earlier this month, the winners of the Israel Science Foundation scholarship were announced, and no fewer than 50 of those are from Bar-Ilan. Culminating at 40 million ILS, the scholarship funds will be divided among the winners, including four faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering.
The field of life science and medicine was represented by Prof. Rachela Popovtzer and Prof. Dror Fixler. Prof. Popovtzer was awarded for her study of the mechanisms and function of exosomes as tumor-targeted delivery vehicles using gold nanoparticles; Prof. Fixler was awarded for his research on developing a new optical technique that can retrieve information from deep tissue, by collecting the light distributed at 360 degrees.
The field of exact science and technology was represented by Prof. Joseph Shor and Prof. Amir Leshem. Prof. Shor was awarded for his study in which he is developing an advanced droop-resistant clocking and power management system for integrated circuits. Prof. Leshem was awarded for his study on distributed cooperative learning over wireless channels: from game theory to network protocols. In addition to the research grant, Prof. Leshem was also awarded a grant designated for international collaborations.
The Israel Science Foundation supports groundbreaking researchers in all higher education institutions in Israel, as well as research institutes and hospitals. Support is offered based on scientific excellence in different academic fields, including exact sciences and technology, science and medicine, social sciences, and humanities.
