Prof. Adam Teman Represented Bar-Ilan University in an Innovation Authority Delegation
The goal of the delegation to South Korea was to promote technological, commercial, and academic collaboration between the two nations. At the conference, Prof. Teman gave a talk about AI chips.
Prof. Adam Teman represented Bar-Ilan University as part of a special delegation to South Korea, organized by the Innovation Authority with the goal of promoting technological, commercial, and academic collaboration between the two nations. “Israelis excel in creativity, imagination, out-of-the-box thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship. Koreans excel in their ability to bring things to life, putting ideas into practice. They know how the get the job done. Bringing these two strengths together can bring creative technological ideas from Israel to mass production and global distribution, and that’s our shared goal,” explains Prof. Teman.
The delegation was organized and sponsored by KORIL-RDF, a collaborative fund established in 1998 by the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), and the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA). The Israeli delegation included 35 members, faculty members from Israeli academic institutes, and executives from small and mid-range Israeli companies. Prof. Teman joined as a representative of Bar-Ilan University. He was joined by Eli Leizerovitz, CBO at RAAAM Memory Technologies, a Bar-Ilan spin-off that is productizing technology developed within the research of Prof. Teman and Prof. Alex Fish in the EnICS Labs of the Faculty of Engineering.
The focal points of the delegation were chips (semiconductors) and smart transportation, two topics in which both countries are considered global leaders, and view as growth-driving fields. Members of the delegation spent three days in Seoul and participated in the Israel-Korea Innovation Day held in Seongnam, one of Korea’s hi-tech capitals. The event included an exposition and meetings with Korean company representatives and researchers. Prof. Teman was asked to give a keynote lecture on AI chips, a topic that garnered much interest among the participants.
In addition to the Innovation Day, the delegation visited several Korean hi-tech companies, including Hyundai, LG, and SemiFive. “We had some good meetings, met plenty of people and were highly impressed with the hi-tech environment, the companies, and the academies involved in Korea’s chip industry,” says Prof. Teman. “I was honored to represent Bar-Ilan. The conference attendees were highly impressed with our work and achievements, and I truly believe that collaborations between the Faculty of Engineering and Korean technological institutions are in our future.”
