The Faculty of Engineering’s Women at the Cadence Conference

In celebration of International Women’s Day, female students and faculty members were invited to participate in a morning of interpersonal communication which included mingling with leading women in the industry, a tour of the Cadence offices, and a talk by journalist Orit Navon
The Faculty of Engineering makes a point of maintaining strong ties with leading companies in the hi-tech industry, for research collaborations and to assist students put their foot in the door and join the competitive market. One such company is international Cadence, which provides software for chip and electronic design. The company has made it its mission to promote female presence in the industry and promoting them to key positions. It even offers dedicated scholarships for female students. In honor of International Women’s Day, female students and faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering were invited for a day at the company campus.
The guests had the pleasure of meeting female engineers and key developers at Cadence: Academia Relations Coordinator Tal Zigman, and VP of Research and Development Orit Greengrass. They toured the Cadence campus and attended a fascinating lecture by Orit Navon of Kan 11, creator of the shows Kan Makshivim and Monologues. Navon talked about interpersonal communication and issues such as how smart listening can help us make better, more meaningful conversations; how to listen so that others will talk, and how to talk so others will listen; how to engage and build trust, surmount difficult conversations and achieve cooperation.
Headquartered in San Jose, California, Cadence is home to some 13,000 employees across 40 development centers worldwide. Two of these centers are located in Israel – in Petah Tiqua and in Tefen. In 2023, the company made $1.4B in sales and reached a tenfold increase in the number of customers who use its AI-based products as part of the Cadence.AI solutions suite. The company and the Faculty of Education closely collaborate in many fruitful ventures. Two years ago, Cadence sponsored the Faculty’s main hackathon, which took place at the Cadence Petah Tiqua campus, in collaboration with the IDF’s Yahalom unit.
