The prestigious award was presented to Prof. Fish at the ChipEx conference, an event dedicated to Israel's semiconductor and AI industries. The award recognizes his significant contributions to the field, his groundbreaking research, and spearheading the EnICS Laboratories as a national hub for hardware innovation

Global Industry Leader is the most prestigious award of the Israeli high-tech industry. It is granted to virtuous individuals whose vision and leadership reshape the semiconductor industry and who serve as a source of inspiration for generations of engineers. The award is granted every year to two or three winners at the ChipEx2026 Executive Forum event of the local high-tech industry. One of this year's honorees is Prof. Alex Fish.

From Groundbreaking Research to Real-World Impact

At the ceremony, Prof. Fish was commended: "This award honors your significant contributions to the semiconductor industry, reflected in your pioneering research in energy-efficient memory technologies, biomedical circuits, and cryogenic CMOS; your founding of ENICS Labs as a national hub for hardware innovation; and for your excellence in educating generations of VLSI students at Bar-Ilan University

The presenters remarked that Prof. Fish has been instrumental in transforming advanced technology into real-world impact by co-founding RAAAM Technology and introducing breakthrough ultra-dense embedded memory solutions.

A Personal Award, Collective Achievements

"Although this award was given to me personally, it is absolutely clear that these are collective achievements shared by all of us at the Faculty of Engineering," Prof. Fish said. "The fact that the high-tech industry recognizes the value of Bar-Ilan University, and EnICS Laboratories in particular, in cultivating talent is a major achievement. I want to thank my colleagues on the EnICS management team for their long-standing friendship and collaborative work. I also want to thank my incredible students and engineers for their professionalism, initiative, innovation, determination, creativity, and attention to detail. Without your hard work, we wouldn't have accomplished a fraction of what we do in the labs."

Prof. Fish also expressed his gratitude to the senior administration of Bar-Ilan University "for their professionalism, the wonderful atmosphere, their encouragement of industry collaboration, and their support for the ideas, ventures, and programs we have sought to promote over the years." Additionally, Prof. Fish thanked Prof. Zeev Zalevsky, Vice President for Industry Relations and former Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Orit Shefi, the current Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. "It is a great pleasure to serve as her Vice Dean and to advance the Faculty together." Lastly, Prof. Fish expressed his gratitude to the Israel Innovation Authority for its substantial support to the EnICS Laboratories Institute since its inception

Honoring Key Industry Figures

ChipEx is the largest annual conference dedicated to Israel's semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries. Each year, the conference hosts an Executive Forum for top industry leaders, during which the prestigious Global Industry Leader award is presented to pivotal figures. The award was presented to Prof. Fish by Dr. Alon Stopel, Chairman of the Israel Innovation Authority, alongside the conference co-chairmen: Shlomo Gradman, Chairman of the Israeli High-Tech CEO Forum, and Prof. Ran Ginosar.

Previous winners include Prof. Andrew Viterbi, inventor of the "Viterbi algorithm" used today in all cellular devices, and co-founder of Qualcomm; Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs, co-founder and former Chairman of Qualcomm; Prof. Mark Horowitz, co-founder of Rambus Inc.; Prof. Steve Furber, founder of Arm System-on-Chip Architecture; and Henry Samueli, co-founder and current Chairman of Broadcom.
